The Minbar That Opened Jerusalem for Muslims

Has this ever crossed your mind?
A flash of thought: "Who am I to say I can change the world?"
Or something like that.
You see. There was once a poor carpenter, driven by faith, who was commissioned to build a pulpit (minbar) for the al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem.
He put his heart and soul into the work, crafting a beautiful pulpit to inspire and elevate.
When it was completed, wealthy merchants and nobles lined up to buy it. The offers were tempting, but the carpenter refused, saying it was built for the sake of Allah and should remain in the mosque.
Why would the rich and the noble want to buy what was meant for al-Aqsa mosque for their home?
Anyway...
One day, while the rich and nobles wanted the pulpit for their selfish interests, a young boy approached the carpenter and said, "When I grow up, I will return this pulpit to its rightful place."
The carpenter, moved by the boy's sincerity, entrusted him with the pulpit.
Years passed, and that boy grew up to be Salahudeen al-Ayyubi, the famous Muslim leader who liberated Jerusalem from the Crusaders. True to his word, Salahudeen returned the pulpit to its rightful place in the al-Aqsa mosque.
So often, young Muslims believe they lack the resources or influence to make a significant difference. You might think, "Who am I to make an impact?"
But consider the carpenter and the young boy. They didn't have wealth or power when they started—they had faith and a commitment to their goals.
This story isn’t just about faith and determination—it's about the lasting impact of noble intentions and actions. The carpenter believed in his purpose and didn't sell out, and his faith was rewarded in ways he couldn't have imagined.
Likewise, Salahudeen's determination and commitment to his promise had a profound historical impact.
Do you allow wealth and nobility to detract you from your commitment to contribute to the spread of Islam? Or what else distracts you?
Al-Ayyubi was a boy when he made the promise. With his commitment to the cause of Islam, he trained until he became a leader within the Ummah.
And as they say ...
... the rest is history.
Believe in your potential. Just like the carpenter and Salahudeen, your faith and determination can lead to incredible outcomes. Don’t underestimate what you can achieve with the right guidance and commitment.
Wishing you Allah's Rahma,
Teslim
