The Secrets to Sharing the Message of Islam ...

As-Salaam alaekum ,
You know that little voice in the back of your head, right?
The one that objects to damn near everything?
One moment, you’re thinking about starting a project where you’ll explain the beauty and peaceful teachings of Islam to the world. The next, you hear a whisper in your mind’s ear…
“No way! You can’t do that.” It says. “Why would people believe that Islam is beautiful or peaceful? The media is full of evidence of Muslim violence.”
Or maybe you’re thinking of becoming a full-time dawah worker or da’i. You are thinking of devoting the most energetic time of your life to the service of humanity through a career in dawah.
But, the little voice pipes in again:
“Noooo! You can’t do that. You aren’t even a scholar. You’ve not memorized the whole of the Qur’an. You can’t even speak Arabic.”
And on and on you go.
You come across a great idea to help showcase the beautiful teachings of Islam. And the little voice slaps it down every single time, pointing out gazillions of reasons why it will never work.
Of course, you can’t let that stop you, right? Everyone who got anywhere had to learn to ignore the voice of Self-Doubt.
But what if it isn’t self-doubt talking? What if it is the Voice of Reason?
What if you really are a nobody, and don’t have a chance in hell at doing any of this stuff?
Uh oh …
The Truth: You Are Right to Doubt Yourself
Not because you are a nobody. Not because you lack credentials.
But because what is called the Impostor Syndrome is real. It makes you feel like a fraud.
You see, being a scholar, memorizing the whole of the Qur’an, and being fluent in Arabic matter. And they are a life-long process to achieve.
The Problem is:
Do you really want to wait until everyone else dies off for anyone to start caring what you have to say?
If you do, that’s fine. We’ll meet on the day of judgment.
The rest of us?
We want people to listen to us and care about our dawah right now, despite the fact that we are no scholars, we have not memorized the whole of the Qur’an, nor can we speak any Arabic. We sure will learn along the journey.
We are that DETERMINED!
But the truth is: every process has a first step.
