It's been a while since we featured a new listing. Summer is vacation season, and while I'm able to do enough work on the road to keep things moving, the ancillary items like this almost weekly email sometimes get shunted to the side.

This business is co-listed by myself and our new agent, Jake. We're working together to find a good buyer for this century-old brand. Check out the details below and click the blue button to request more info.

For over a century this successful wholesale seed processing and distribution company is located in South Dakota. For over a century, this business has been a State Certified seed processing facility. This business has two full time employees, and the owner/manager has operated it for over twenty years of continued success. Possible expansion onsite, years of stability, and abundant opportunities for business growth make this a great opportunity.

The Company buys bulk grain from farmers and other grain dealers in the area, cleans and bags the grain and resells it across the upper Midwest, primarily to other wholesale seed dealers. The Company deals in Sunflowers, Wheat, Oats, Milo, Rye, Barley, Millet, Safflower and Triticale. The facility is very well maintained, has excess bushel capacity, numerous types of grain bins, grain dryers, grain cleaning equipment, and delivery trucks. Besides the main grain elevator, the facility has over 40,000 square feet of warehouse space and a 1,200 square foot outside storage building.

Facilities

The seed processing and storage facility and elevator has a storage capacity of over 150,000 bushels, 40,000+ square feet of warehouse space, and a large office on 3.3 acres. The 80' scale has a capacity of 60 tons.

Products, Services, Licenses, Skills Required

Knowledge of grain markets would be important for the continued success of this business. A grain dealer license is required but can be obtained easily at the time of sale.

Competition/Industry

Light competition makes the business available for growth and expansion in its industry. It is very well established in the industry and community. It enjoys strong customer relationships, has an excellent reputation, and a stable, long-term client base.

Sales & Marketing

This business has the ability to expand if a larger sales team would be put in place with expansion available onsite.

Assets

Included in the sale is nearly $250,000 worth of machinery and equipment including screening machines, baggers, mixers, cleaners, a combine, forklifts, a truck and trailers.

Potential for Growth

A larger sales team could drive growth. There is room to grow, but labor is a bottleneck. There are currently some crops/seeds that aren’t being processed, growing offerings to farmers as the supplier and customer could develop more markets. Capacity is currently underutilized. The Seller would be willing to stay on in a management role if the buyer so desired for +/- a year.

Reason for Selling

Retirement. The owner is willing to stay on for a year + if needed.
