How to Change your Life (With Self Help Books)
May 01, 2020 11:40 am
I read self help books.
It shouldn't feel like a confession, but it low-key is - at least outside of my YouTube bubble. Self help books are made fun of a lot (ik, ik, I too feel personally attacked).
Despite that, I hold really freaking strong to the belief that the books I've read have contributed to huuuge changes in my life.
They have the potential to totally transform you - If you actually do what they tell you to do.
In my latest video I talked about how to change your life (with self help books). Here's a teaser:
How to Change your Life with Self Help Books
Step 1: Get ruthless
If you want to change your life, pick one topic and one self help book and treat it like a course. My philosophy is to read widely to always be expanding your mind, but hone the eff in if you want to change your life.
At the very least, focus in one on topic (if you can't manage one book).
Step 2: Have an end goal
Before you start any books, write down what you're trying to change. Make it something tangible, something you can tick off if possible.
Step 3: Read with a beginners mindset
"I already know this" isn't the same as "I already do this". Knowing something doesn't make you above information in any way - having implemented and mastered something does.
Step 4: Take notes
Take notes when:
- You read something that feels important
- Your read something that's hard to wrap your head around
- You read something that's actionable
If you want to know steps 5 and 6, you can find 'em here.
