Learning to Sit with Change, One Colour at a Time
What if the real work of change isn’t managing it… but learning how to sit with it?
On Saturday morning, 4th of April 2026, at MPH TRX, I watched something unfold in a way that felt both simple and profound.
People moved through the Colours of Change process. What once began as a small seed for me during the pandemic, now growing into my book, Lead Change Heart Way.
There was no rush to fix, no urgency to figure everything out.
Just space, space to feel, to express, and to let change take shape in its own time.
Art isn’t linear, and neither is change.
WHY Sitting With Change Matters More Than We Think
🌊 Because not everything is meant to be solved immediately. We’re used to approaching change like a problem, something to analyse, control, and resolve. But some changes ask for something different. They ask for presence, not instant solutions.
🪞 Because clarity doesn’t come from force. The harder we try to “figure things out,” the more tangled it can feel. Clarity often emerges when we give ourselves permission to pause, to observe, and to let things unfold naturally.
💛 Because how we meet change shapes the outcome. We may not control what’s happening around us, but we always have a say in how we respond. That internal posture, our mindset, our openness, changes the entire experience.
WHAT I’m Beginning to See More Clearly
🎨 Change becomes clearer when it’s made visible. When thoughts and emotions move out of our heads and onto paper, something shifts. What once felt overwhelming becomes something we can see, explore, and gently understand.
🤝 The process matters more than the pace. Some moments move quickly, others feel slow and uncertain. Neither is wrong. The value isn’t in how fast we move, but in how honestly we engage with where we are.
🌿 There’s power in making the intangible tangible. Sometimes, the most complex feelings don’t need more thinking, they need expression. When you can hold your experience in your hands, it becomes less intimidating and more approachable.
HOW Can We Learn to Sit With Change
🧘 Pause before reacting. Instead of immediately trying to fix or decide, give yourself a moment. Sit with what you’re feeling. Let it exist without needing to change it right away.
🎨 Externalise what’s inside. Write it down. Draw it out. Use colours, shapes, or words, whatever feels natural. When your inner world has somewhere to land, it becomes easier to work with.
🪶 Approach yourself with curiosity, not judgment. Replace “Why am I like this?” with “What is this trying to show me?” “How else can I view this situation now?” “What else can I discover from this experience?” That shift softens the experience and opens the door to deeper understanding.
As I watched people engage with the colours, pausing, choosing, reflecting, I was reminded of something simple, yet easy to forget:
Change doesn’t always need to be managed, sometimes, it just needs a place to land.
A space outside your head.
A moment in your hands.
A process that allows you to meet it, not fight it.
To everyone who showed up at my book event at MPH TRX —thank you.
Thank you for trusting the process, and for allowing yourselves to sit with what emerged.
If you’re navigating change right now, you don’t have to rush through it, you can meet it, one moment at a time. Clarity and actions will be solidified and concretised through this process.
And if you need a space to do that—through coaching, speaking, or workshops—I’m here.
Because sometimes, the most powerful thing we can do…is simply stay now. Staying now fuels our actions with clarity and commitment later. 🎨💛
