I cannot believe I just did that (and now more than 500 people praying weekly!)

Dear praying friends,

Oh. my. goodness. Since the last email I sent, our daughter has moved. That was planned. When we got together with Jo last week, it finally clicked for me that they were renting a U-Haul and towing their car to Nashville. Jo does not have a driver's license, and that they were planning on doing this trip in one, long driving stretch (leaving on Wednesday and picking up apartment keys on Thursday). So, I volunteered to go with them if they had a 3rd seat in the Uhaul. I figured, I can drive down, help them unload, and catch a flight back.

In theory, that is exactly what happened - just different than we imagined. Towing a car and some rain and construction stretched our 14 hour drive into 19 hours. We picked up the Uhaul at 7 am Wednesday, loaded the car on the transport trailer, drove to the apartment, loaded the truck, and were on the road after some tearful goodbyes by 11. At 6 am we pulled into Nashville (with lots of driver swaps along the way), slept for a couple of hours, started driving again at 9:15 to get to the new apartment by 10. They got their keys, did a walkthrough, and we unloaded the truck (3rd floor apartment, no elevator), returned the U-Haul, got some food, ate, showered, and then they drove me to the airport.

What a 2-day adventure! As tired as I am (and I am TIRED), I am so grateful that we were in the United States so I could help them move.

Some prayer requests:

  1. We are off to Watertown, SD tomorrow! Pray for safe travels and good connections.
  2. One of our goals this year was to do well at being present and connecting as much as possible with people in each location we visit. I am noticing that, because of the intensity of our speaking schedule, some of the names and faces are beginning to blend together. To some degree, that is inevitable - but can you pray that our brains stay fresh and that we stay present with people?
  3. We have a new 2-year resident landing in Berlin on Monday! Please pray for Amanda as she travels and starts to get settled in Berlin.
  4. Joshua is currently back in Northern Germany for a school block. This block will have some more testing and will be preparing him for his Journeyman's test, which is in July. Pray for him as he studies!
  5. Pray for Johannah as she gets settled in Nashville.
  6. Pray for Caleb as his new semester starts and he continues working.

Thanks, as always, for your prayers!

Blessings,

mike
