Short term team gone, construction has started, and beautiful fall weather

Dear praying friends,

Our Short-Term team from North Woodbury Alliance Church left last Friday, and it was such a blessing to have them here! They really worked hard on a lot of our projects, both helping us rearrange some of our stuff and help us prepare for the remodeling project.

And - the remodel has started! Last week I signed the contract for the construction work, on Monday morning I met with man leading the project on site, and yesterday a team of guys started the project. If you want, you can check the updates I will be posting on instagram. And keep praying for the financing! I can't wait to report to you about how God has provided based on your prayers.

A lot of the weather in fall and winter in Berlin is cloudy and cold, but the last couple of days we have had beautiful sunshine! It's been great, and it is always interesting to see how people's mood is connected to the weather. On Saturday, Elissa and I had the opportunity to join our local gardening initiative again - and we had some really great conversations with our neighbors.

Here is a prayer request connected to that. One of the things this local neighborhood organization does is plan a "Living Advents Calendar" for December 1-23. The former December 1 location was a local Catholic Church/Monastery, which was closed earlier this year because of lack of funds. We were asked to be the new opening location, which is both an honor and a lot of pressure! Please pray that we continue to represent Jesus well, especially as we kick off the programming this year!

Some other prayer requests:

  1. Health!! I got sick while the last short term team was here, and that cold spread through both the visiting team and some on our team. Please pray for us all to feel 100% again.
  2. We have started contacting artists to put together our 2026 exhibition plan. Please pray for us as that comes together.
  3. Pray for both the construction project itself and for the funding we need.
  4. Pray for good visa solutions, primarily for our interns - but also for us as we wait to hear back from some German government organizations who are reviewing our application now.

Blessings,

mike
