Lots of little changes make big changes hard to process!

Dear praying friends,

I think it is a general challenge in life that time and life do not necessarily wait for one challenge to completely resolve before the next one comes. This often feels like it accelerates a little bit during team season.

Teams are great - and we love them being here. We have an amazing team from Citylight Omaha with us right now, and they are doing such a great job of learning and supporting their workers (with another organization) while they are in Berlin.

But short-term teams bring a special challenge of flexibility - because even the best-laid plans often force to make quick adjustments. Here are some examples: On Sunday we had arranged for part of the team to attend a Berlin church with some of our colleagues. We checked early in the week to be sure we knew when the church started, and everything checked out - but by Saturday night the church had published different plans, so we adjusted. Sunday morning, our colleagues picked up the team and brought them to church - to discover a note on the door that the church was meeting somewhere else that week. So - our colleagues pivoted again, holding an impromptu church service to the side of the church, which pulled in another person by chance who also did not know of the change!

These changes are often small - but they require rapid adjustments - and happen a lot over a short period of time. When we are running two teams almost back-to-back (20 of 28 days with teams on the ground) - the adjustments in small areas become exhausting and leave us less ready to handle some big adjustments - which have also come in the last several weeks. I will share some of those next week, after I have had more time to process them healthily!

Can you please pray for us as we finish with this team? We want to finish well!

Please also pray for:

  1. Johannah as she searches for a new job.
  2. Caleb as he finishes his internship in the next couple of months.
  3. Joshua and his tests (he thinks his theory test went well - this Saturday is practical!)
  4. Our house church - we have amazing people and need to process some upcoming changes with them.
  5. Our site - we made it through the financially challenging winter! Pray for us as we have some financial decisions to make in the coming weeks.
  6. Energy for us all!
  7. Pray for our interns, especially Anna as we work through the process of getting her visa.

Blessings,

mike
