Evelyn stood nervously outside the Alpha’s bedroom door, her bedroom now too. She’d gotten Gideon settled for the night and he was already asleep. She knew the knowledge that he was under his Alpha’s protection gave her son the peace he needed to finally relax his guard.
She wished she found it as easy. Evelyn licked her lips nervously; now that night had come she had to keep her promise to sleep in Jackson’s arms. Bile rose in her throat as fear washed over her, now that the time was upon her she didn’t think she could go through with it.
Tears dripped down her cheeks as she stared at the closed door.

The door opened to reveal Jackson standing in front of her in only his jeans. Evelyn immediately looked down, her eyes fell on his bare feet. She drew in a deep breath as she studied them his toes were straight and strong looking just like the rest of him.
