As I get ready to publish my first book, I wanted to tell you more about this pre-order campaign and why I chose to self-publish.
Lately, I’ve been talking about the project more and more around me.
It’s interesting to see the different reactions, such as:
“Wow! Congratulations! I always wanted to write a book…”
“That’s awesome! How did you get to that point?”
“Is it on Amazon, can I order it now?”
And then, when I explain that I’m self-publishing, and doing pre-orders on my website independently, I realize most people have no clue what that actually entails.
Nobody said it would be easy. A lot of people have tried to discourage me from writing a book. It definitely isn’t for the faint of heart. But it’s not rocket science. Anybody can write a book… Yes, you need to know what you want to write about, dedicate yourself and actually do the writing until it’s done. But writing is the easy part!
The hardest is all the second guessing that goes with transforming a manuscript into a book. The corrections, the reading out loud, the multiple rounds of editing, the lay-out, the artwork…
And then, last but not least, once you have a finished product, you need to figure out production, distribution, marketing, promotion, content creation…
It’s a lot! But I’m up for the task! I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Yet, after spending years helping others bring their projects to market, doing it for myself has revealed itself to be a true challenge.
And that’s why I need your help now! There’s only so much I can do alone.
And at the end of the day, I do it for us. In hopes that my vulnerability in sharing my story can help others on their journey. So I’m building in public as the saying goes.
I need to raise funds for the production of the first printed edition of the book, and so I can invest in promotion and marketing efforts. I am so grateful for all the people who have already pre-ordered a copy! You remind me why I keep going! Thank you.
Now, the most important thing is gathering attention for this project, building an audience, and a community of like minded people with whom my ideas resonate.
I want this project to be accessible to all, so I created different tiers and prices on the website. You can name your price and pre-order the digital ebook for as low as $1, or $10 for the audio book, you can also pay $100 for the “Proud 2 Pay” package with the printed version and a T-shirt, or simply pay the at-cost market price. If you’re feeling generous you can make an offer and give as much as you want. It’s not all about the money, so if you can’t afford it, just sign up to the newsletter and email me, I will also be sending out free digital copies when the book officially drops.
