How have you been?
The summer is coming to an end, everybody is getting back to work, or enjoying the last hot days on the beach, kids are back in school.
Maybe you haven't taken any time off and just been grinding! I feel you!
As for me, I’ve been getting ready to drop the most important project of my life!
And that happened yesterday! I’m a published author…
Now, to be quite honest, nothing changed… I still went out for a workout after a few hours sleep, still have responsibilities, bills and problems. But…

Journey to the release
Yesterday, on September 9th 2024, I scrambled at the last minute till 7 am to get everything ready to send out the digital files, and now I’m going to order the first edition print of the physical books!
Being independent comes with a whole lot of challenges, but it is also rewarding. It’s what they call being “agile” in the startup world!
The last few days have been frantic to say the least!
I did a last test read and listened to the whole audiobook again trying to cross the T’s and dot the i’s! A bunch of 15 hour days, little sleep and multi-tasking!
Then I also decided I wanted to make some quick tweeks to the cover at the last minute! Hahaha! They don’t call me Mad Habits for nothing! But I did it! It’s out!

I chose to self-publish my book and do pre-orders which I explained in a previous post. But to break it down, the main reasons for me where creative control, IP, revenue splits, and finally, my desire to create a direct relationship with my readers.
So I created a website to sell direct, and signed up to a couple services to deliver my digital content, and print my books on demand. I will eventually upload my book to all the major platforms of course, but I wanted to maintain a little exclusive feel to this release to start out. (Same reasons why I’m on Substack…)
I implemented “Name your price” offers for pre-orders so people could choose what they want to give. I couldn’t have done that on another platform. And it paid off! The numbers aren’t crazy, but it just proves to me that I can make money from my writing! And I’m talking $100 average per order. Not just fractions of pennies per page read.

Why order now?
I am producing the first batch of books right now before uploading it to a print on demand platform down the line. Which means this is the only edition which will go through my hands so I can sign them before they hit yours! There will only be 100.
I might upload my work to Amazon, Audible, and all major distributors in the near future, but for now, I prefer to go the direct route and sell on my website so I know who's buying my book and I can build a direct relationship with you.

Finally, I have been writing on Substack again and I’m planning on developing this platform a lot more now that the book has dropped. I will be switching to paid subscriptions very soon! But anybody who pre-orders a book will get a few months for free (Unless you really want to pay to support of course!).

Let's be real, I am full of fears and doubts concerning this release but I also feel confident and grateful. I am at the level I’m at. And I embrace it. I’m looking forward to each step! I am doing my best and excited to share my “baby” with you.
