Ok, so this week I dove into the odd world of cold calling and door-to-door sales.
Cold-Calling
I'm setting up a 6-week summer camp in a town where I have no connections but need children to attend.
My strategy was simple, call the apartment complexes in the area and let them know we're offering a free camp to their residents.
The "ask" is where things got hairy.
I needed them to a) send an email blast with my flier to their residents or b) give me a list of units with children (creepy).
I went 2 for 2 once I could get people on the phone.
One of the property managers ended up forwarding the flyer to 2 other properties and someone registered. Sweet.
Door To Door Sales
The apartment complex that is hosting us for 6 weeks agreed to give us a list of units that had children.
My wife and I knocked on the door of each unit and basically had to pitch the camp.
Out of 11 units, we only met 1 grump but he changed his attitude by the end of the convo.
One mother signed her son up on the spot and I had 3 more registered by the time I made it home.
We need 20 ASAP and we're well on our way.
