From Chris DeBoer: A Response and a Path Forward for MMHCA

Dear MMHCA Members,

You may have received a recent email from the opposing slate that included a photo of me from 2019, thanking Jim Blundo for his work on HB 4325. I stand by that moment. The passage of HB 4325 was an important milestone for LPCs in Michigan, and Jim’s contributions—along with the efforts of many others (thousands) —helped make it possible.

But one moment doesn’t define a legacy, and this election is not about the past. It’s about where MMHCA goes from here.

Over the past 18 months, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside a volunteer board that stepped up during a time of deep division. Together, we restored transparency, improved communication, expanded member benefits, and built meaningful partnerships with other mental health organizations across Michigan. Our work has been guided by a simple principle: MMHCA belongs to its members—not any one individual.

I’m not running against anyone. I’m running for something—a professional association that listens, collaborates, and grows stronger through service to its members. I invite you to review the candidates, read the bios, and vote for the slate you believe will best represent our profession moving forward.
