✯ Meridian Medicaid update + ✯

Dear MMHCA Members,

Effective September 1, 2025, Meridian will implement a prior authorization requirement for services received from out-of-network Behavioral Health (BH) providers. This change is part of their ongoing efforts to support high-quality, coordinated care and ensure appropriate use of network resources.

Please note - this requirement does not apply to emergency room care, urgent care, or services provided at Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), Rural Health Clinics (RHCs), or Tribal Health Centers (THCs).

Additionally, we are working to get clarification and guidance regarding the Medicaid Mental Health Framework that is going into effect on October 1, 2025. We will update you as soon as we have more information.
