The paintings featured in "The Crossover" operate as George's artistic reflections on the intricacies associated with pursuing our dreams. These paintings are a visual documentation of his life experiences from adolescence to adulthood. The initial excitement that explodes from the starting block of chasing a dream are tamed, when the realization occurs that life is a series of unrelenting head winds. Searching for a way to encourage and inspire others, George looked inward to draw on his personal experiences to convey this message.

Go with your gut. 22 x 29. Acrylic, oil pastel, and collage on paper. 2021.

In his early years, George had a passion for visual and performing arts and basketball. He was able to pursue his basketball dreams, playing Division 1 College basketball, professional basketball, and represented his country, Great Britain, at the national level.

Presently, Nick is pursuing another dream of his, as he is now a full-time visual artist coming off two sold out group exhibitions in London, England, and Houston, Texas. He produces paintings that intertwine pop art and neo-expressionism. Employing acrylics, pastels, pencil, and collage on paper, he tells stories of healing, courage, and acceptance. He expands beyond portraiture for the first time to explore figurines and colors in his backgrounds.

Capirote.  23 x 33 in. Acrylic, oil pastel, and collage on paper. 2021.

George explores the use of symbolism and colors beyond the confinement of his subjects and into the background of the painting. Additional elements implemented in George’s works for the first time are the creation of intentional tears and rips. These are part of the therapeutic healing process of dealing with trauma from old wounds. For George, painting is liberating, it is a space to tackle emotions that were suppressed or not addressed in the process of pursuing a dream.

The Crossover takes us on a journey of doubt, hope, valor, and restoration. It is also an examination of what is expected from us based on our past, and the courage to go in a different direction.

We hope you enjoy the exhibition.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

The Crossover Opens Friday December 10th 2021. 5 pm to 9 pm
