Chaos, Christmas, and an Epic Battle! Misty's Writing Update
Dec 21, 2024 1:40 am
Hello, friends!
It’s a Christmas miracle (or just good hand hygiene) that the twins and I have avoided the great flu epidemic of our household! While everyone else is sharing a buffet of symptoms—from chills to congestion—I've been sanitizing my hands like a pro to keep the babies and myself flu-free.
The only other suvivor? My 16-year-old son escaped the plague by simply declaring, "I don’t get sick.” Placebo effect? Sheer stubbornness? Who knows, but it worked!
And now I'm in the middle of an epic battle and could use some help.
But first, click on a few of these fun ebook specials I have for you today:
Did you know my BAF (best author friend) Steph finished another complete apocalypse series this year? It's edge-of-your-seat reading you'll love. Check it out!

The Final Battle of Book #5: Imperial Chaos
I can't believe I'm getting so close to finishing the first draft of Shieldwall Academy's fifth book: Imperial Chaos.
It's already up to 170k+ words and I just wrote the opening of the final battle. And that's what I wanted to ask you all. What components do you enjoy the most about an epic finale at the end of a book?
- The main character persevering despite the 'all hope is lost' moment?
- The descriptions that make you feel like you're in the battle yourself?
- The emotions?
- The side characters stepping up?
- The villain and their motivations?
- Something else?
I'd love to hear what you enjoy the most, so I can make sure I don't miss any of your favorite parts.
So now I need to wrap up this epic battle, the 'all hope is lost' moment, the victory, and then the celebration and wrap up . . . plus, a hint at what's to come in book 6. Then I'll have finished another book, my 19th book, once it's published. Crazy, huh?
That'll take 10-ish chapters, I'm guessing. At my usual pace of three to four chapters a week, I should be done early in January, especially since I'm taking a week off for Christmas to relax with family.
I truly hope you're having a wonderful (and healthy) holiday season and have people close to you to share it with! The people we love are such an important and treasured part of life, aren't they?
May you have joy and love this Christmas and holiday season!
- Misty :)
