Apr 19, 2024 7:55 pm

Hi friends,

I'm getting so close to 1000 Amazon followers for my newest penname M. Zaugg. If you click and +Follow me (it's free in the top left corner by my avatar) you'll get notifications when I have new books come out.

Plus, you'll let Amazon know there are readers out there who like to read my books.

Win-win!

If my post-apoc books are more your flavor, head over to Misty Zaugg's author page to follow there . . . or help out by doing both :)

I'll let you know how much we bump the numbers up by all working together!

And I loved all the responses I got back from my last email where you correctly fixed the grammar mistakes I missed. Maybe some of you should be editing. :)

On to the practical self-defense tip for today: What household items can you defend yourself with?

But first, please take a minute to click on this week's newsletter specials!

Keys and Pens: Use Household items for Self-Defense

Look around yourself right now. Do you see anything that could help you defend yourself in a pinch? Here are a few items I could use right now:

  1. Pen and sharp pencils: These can stab into a hand that is grabbing you or drive someone back by attacking the face and eyes.
  2. My chair: It's heavy and unwieldy to pick it up as a weapon, but mine is on wheels. I can send it flying into someone's legs while I run the other way.
  3. Wires and cords: These can strike with a whip-like blow to cause an attacker to flinch back so I can escape.
  4. Heavy water bottle: As long as I keep a good grip on it, it can help me hit hard to the side of head or a wrist reaching out to grab me.
  5. Spray bottle full of vinegar: I happen to have this to clean up our puppy's accidents, but you could substitute any cleaning spray. Aimed at the face and eyes, it can drive an attacker back and give you time to get away.

What about you? What do you have within arm's length that would make an effective weapon to defend yourself?

As a last resort I could hit someone with my laptop, but that's too disturbing to imagine. I love my computer and use it for everything. :)

I hope you have a fun book to read this weekend. Stay safe out there!

And a big thanks to everyone who follows me over on Amazon!

- Misty :)
