Hi friends,

Since I am now sending newsletters on the first and third Fridays of the month, you won't hear from me again until the new year.

So, I want to wish everyone a beautiful holiday season with friends and family!

I've got some fun ideas below for small items that can do double duty as useful survival aids and also help fill up stocking for those of you who tend to procrastinate, like me.

But first, if you haven't checked out my first series: World of Combat, think Hunger Games, but with karate.

Kiriai is a teenager who loves to fight in the arenas and is bucking her grandfather's pressure to become a healer like him. And in this dystopian world, they decide every big decision by hiring fighters to battle in the ring, not lawyers.

I had a blast writing it, using my own teenage experiences as a black belt to have fun with the fight scenes. I'd love to hear back on what you think of the books!

Stocking Stuffers for Preppers:

• Life straw
• pocketknife
• firestarter - magnesium or the cool new rod ones
• fire tinder - (cotton balls with petroleum jelly, dryer lint, wax starters made in cardboard egg containers, etc.)
• waterproof matches or container
• pocket first aid kit
• solar battery/phone charger
• set of general emergency medications: ibuprofin, tylenol, sudafed, Guaifenesin, stomach aids, antacid, diphenhydramine, etc.
• emergency money stash with various bills and coins
• hiding device for money stash (books with a cutout section, household items with room - think food boxes, empty cans, etc.)
• small compass
• repurpose Altoid containers into fire kits, first aid kits, medicine kits, etc.
• rehydration salt packets as a substitute for IV fluid during emergencies.
• a favorite tincture
• sewing kit
• small flashlight or keychain light
• radio - solar or crank
• multi-eating tool (spork/can opener)
• emergency candles
• rain poncho
• paracord
• mylar emergency blankets
• foldable can opener
• knife sharpener
• camp stove
• foldable shovel
• lightweight towel
• pepper spray
• pocket chain saw
• folding saw

The great thing is you don't need to wait for an overwhelming apocalypse to find these items useful.

Think: power outages, local flooding or tornados, stranded in bad weather, etc.
