Off to LitRPG Con! (But My Inner Introvert Is Screaming) Mental Tip 14

Hi friends,

(Please use the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of this email if you don't want these emails anymore. Clicking "Spam" gives me a black mark from Gmail that I can't fix. Thanks!!)

This weekend I’m driving out to the LitRPG Convention in Denver at the Grand Hyatt.

So, it should be three days of panels, readers, authors, and a lot of social energy. I'm excited to talk books and soak up the creative energy.!

But if I’m being honest . . . my introvert battery is already blinking red.

Between family events, summer chaos, and the general whirl of life lately, I’m feeling a little socially maxed out. You know when you really want to hide in your room with a favorite snack and just binge read a good book while avoiding eye contact with anyone for hours?

And yet, I want to go. I want to connect with people who love this genre as much as I do. I want to have those nerdy book conversations, meet some fans, swap ideas with other authors, and just be in a space where people get it.

So I'm going. I'm packing snacks, comfy shoes, and a game face that includes plenty of quiet time in between.

If you’re going to the con or just live near Denver, come say hi! I promise I’m friendly. I'd love to shake your hand, take pic or sign something!

Mental Health Tip of the Week: Introvert Survival 101

If big social situations leave you drained, you’re not broken. You’re just wired differently. And that’s totally okay.

Here are a few quick sanity-savers for introverts facing a conference, family gathering, or packed social event:

  • Plan escape hatches. Find a quiet corner, a walkable path, or even your parked car where you can disappear for 10–15 minutes. You don’t need to explain. “I need a breather” is reason enough.
  • Fuel up. Tired + hungry = grumpy and overwhelmed. Keep water and snacks nearby, even if there’s catering. A little protein can do wonders for your mood.
  • Schedule recovery time. Don’t book a dozen things the day after a big social event. Introverts need time to decompress. It’s not laziness. It’s part of your self-care.
  • Set a tiny goal. Instead of trying to “network like a pro,” maybe your win is one great conversation. That counts. That’s enough.

You’re allowed to love people and still need a break from them. 💙

Wishing you peace, deep breaths, and a power-up potion for your introvert soul.

I'll let you know how the conference goes and maybe some pics.

Wish me luck!

- Misty :)
