How do Navy Seals calm down in stressful situations? Mental Health Tip 6
Nov 18, 2023 1:51 am
Hi friends,
Thanks to everyone who hopped over to Amazon and clicked the "+Follow" button on my two author pages. I gained 47 new followers in one day! Now, I'm up to 597 total, so if you'd like to push me to a nice, round 600, here are the links again:
This is totally free and won't create any spam. It just means Amazon may let you know when I have a new book out.
Why does it help me as an author? It signals Amazon that I have readers wanting my books and helps sell my books a little better.
I appreciate all your support and hope you are having a good November. A lot of you are heading into a busy season of various holidays. This time can be wonderful, full of celebrations with families and friends.
But it can also be quite stressful.
To help, I found this simple breathing technique. Sources say they teach this to Navy Seals, so they can center themselves during stressful situations.
I figure if it works for soldiers, it should help us with chaotic holiday planning, right?
Scroll down for all the details - but check out a few of these excellent ebook collections and specials first:

Box Breathing
A Navy Seal's calming technique
As usual, I love finding simple, but effective, techniques that you can easily fit into a busy life.
This one is perfect.
Next time you find your anxiety spiking or are feeling overwhelmed, follow these simple steps.
How to Box Breathe:
- Set aside five minutes. Use a timer, if that's helpful.
- Expel all the air from your lungs.
- Don't breathe for the count of 4. (Don't clamp down, but envision your lungs light and full of air.)
- Inhale through your nose to the count of 4.
- Hold again for 4
- Exhale to the count of 4.
- Repeat as often as you'd like.
It's that simple and can help even if you only have a minute before heading into a test or job interview.
Or use this technique to settle chaotic thoughts for twenty minutes at the start or end of the day.
Have you used box breathing before? If so, I'd love to hear how it's worked for you.
I hope you have a wonderful holiday season with friends and family. And you can always use my favorite de-stressing technique: read a good book!
Thanks for your support and help!
- Misty :)
