Strike with Confidence? Master these Self-Defense Targets. Self Defense Tip 28

Jan 20, 2024 2:59 am

Hi friends,

I can't believe I've got Emerging Rebel, another mammoth book (700+ pages), coming out in two weeks on Feb. 2nd!

Audible has promised the audio will release the same day, narrated by the amazing J.S. Arquin. It comes in at over 23 hours of story. :D

And for those who volunteered to read it early and write a review, I sent those copies out last Sunday. Please reply to me if you didn't get yours or had trouble downloading it. (There's still time if you'd like to review a copy)

For the speedy readers among you, you won't be able to post a review until I get the paperback book published in the next few days, which I do specifically to give the early reviewers a place to post before the official ebook release date.

The goal is to have the ebook release with a handful of nice reviews instead of the usual zero stars. Thank you for all your help!!

And for those of you who enjoy my self-defense tips, I've also got an informative list of vulnerable targets below to help practice and visualize ways to defend yourself.

I love to teach skills you can use in real life to stay safe, just like I give my characters the grit and determination to fight back.

Master these Self-Defense Targets

Self Defense Tip #28

In the realm of self-defense, knowledge truly is power. Understanding an attacker's vulnerable targets and visualizing potential scenarios in advance can help to prepare for real-life situations.

Study and learn the following targets so you can use speed and surprise to cause sudden, unexpected pain, to help you break free and escape an attacker.

Here's a list of targets that are vulnerable to even small amounts of force.

  1. Eyes: A prime target for disorientation and distraction.
  2. Nose: Striking the nose can cause pain and disrupt an assailant's focus.
  3. Throat: A sensitive area; a well-placed strike can incapacitate momentarily.
  4. Groin: Effective for close-range encounters. Attackers will often protect this area instinctively.
  5. Side of thigh: A good alternative to the groin. A 'charlie horse' here will limit the attacker's ability to chase after you.
  6. Shin: Often overlooked, but a harsh scrape and stomp down the shin can also cause immediate pain and limit running after you.
  7. Top of the foot: Particularly if you have heavy boots or a sharp heel, a hard stomp to the top of the foot is exquisitely painful, again limiting chasing. (Think back to the last time you dropped a heavy can or item on your foot. )

The next step is to plan and then visualize how you would strike these targets along with imagining different attacks from various directions

What do you think would be the best way to hit these targets? A heel palm? Your fist? A blunt or sharp object? Which works best for you and your abilities?

Send me your ideas, and I'll add them to the next installment on weapons (natural and external) you can use to break free quickly and efficiently.

Stay safe, enjoy a good book and let me know if you'd like to help review and promote my new book, Emerging Rebel.

You're the best!

- Misty :)
