Did you remember to tell Mom where you're going? Self Defense 26

Hi friends,
Thank you for all your great tips to handle the stress of a big move. I really enjoyed them!
So, my dreams of an empty to-do list when we finally made our move were just that . . . a dream.
Now my to-do list has:
- Sell the home back in Michigan
- get quotes and hire a concrete guy for a patio and RV pad in the new house
- Get quotes and hire someone to put in sprinklers, grade the yard, add topsoil and then grass.
- Finish painting and electrical work in the downstairs apartment, get it inspected, then finally rent it.
- Buy a dress for my daughter's wedding in a few weeks
- Get Awakening Horde audiobook, paperback and ebook ready for a mid-July launch - and do some kind of marketing.
and on and on . . . you get the picture.
I guess life just likes to be crazy busy all at the same time.
But family and friends can make it all worth it.
That's the theme of today's self-defense tip. Remember the rule to always let your mom know where you were going as a kid? Scroll down for how to apply that as an adult:

Self Defense Tip #26
There is a reason many mothers ask their kids to stay in touch about their location and what they're up to.
Because they want to help keep them safe and have an idea if and when they're in trouble.
The same habit can help keep you safe as an adult.
When my youngest sister moved into her own place, we made an arrangement for her to text me every night around 9-10 pm to let me know she got home safe. If I didn't hear from her, I had an alarm on my phone to give her a call and check in.
It reassured both of us and if something did happen we both knew no more than an evening would go by without the alarm being raised.
Here are some ideas to help those in your social circle work together to keep each other safe.
- Have teens check in when they reach their destination safely.
- Set up regular check-ins for adults who live on their own.
- Text your itinerary with hotels and flight info to a trusted friend/family member before you leave on vacation.
- Arrange for a third party contact person (preferably in another state) that everyone in the family knows to contact in an emergency. For example, during a local disaster when family members might get separated, they check in with the designated contact person regain contact.
- Set up a safety GroupMe with a group of friends or family member where you type in details of outings like name and phone of your current partner, where you're meeting friends for a party, when you'll be out of town, etc.
What do you think? Any more ideas on how your friends and family can help you stay safe? I'd love to add more to the list.
Stay safe out there!
