Wedding Pic, plus Cooling Towels and Hats to avoid Heatstroke? Be Prepared Tip 19
Jul 07, 2023 8:11 pm
Hi friends,
The wedding was so wonderful! I really love my new son-in-law! Seeing the two of them so happy together makes me happy. I love seeing my kids take successful steps into adult life! :)
Friends and family came from all over. Even a couple of her besties flew in from Michigan to be bridesmaids. She has such good friends.
Once everything was done, I took a three-hour nap the next day - lol!
And now I'm busy getting things ready for the launch of Awakening Horde on July 21st (fingers crossed I get it all to work right and on time!)
I still have a few spots for anyone who'd like a free ARC (Advanced Review Copy) of Awakening Horde and can post a review on Amazon around the release date.
I'll send those out next week sometime, so just send me a quick email if you'd like to join my review team.
Plus, summer here just got hot!! So, I thought a few tips to stay cool and avoid heatstroke would be valuable, for now and in an emergency.
All the details below :)

Use Cooling Towels and Hats to avoid Heatstroke.
Be Prepared Tip 19
Heatstroke is very dangerous and can sneak up on you.
Watch for these warning signs:
- Very hot body - skin and temps can rise past 104 F.
- Hot, dry skin - Heat exhaustion comes first, which will cause severe sweating. Even more dangerous is when the body moves past that stage to a hot dry skin.
- Mental state - confusion, agitation, irritability, confused, difficulty speaking, etc. Any of these are warning signs to act immediately.
- Rapid, strong pulse
- Nausea and vomiting
- Headache, lightheadedness or dizziness
- Loss of consciousness
What to do?
It's actually really simple: stay hydrated and stay cool.
Hydrate: When we're actively having fun, like at a pool or on a hike, we sometime forget to drink enough. Kids, especially. Make it a habit to bring a water bottle to every outdoor activity and take drinking breaks.
Stay Cool:
- Seek shade as much as possible
- Wear a hat
- Try a cooling towel.
The one you might not have tried yet is the cooling towel.
They are awesome!
They are thin towels that easily soak up water and let it evaporate, which cools you off. We actually took a set of these to an amusement park last summer and found them very useful for staying cool. Wearing a damp one around the back of your neck can be very refreshing while hiking or even doing yard work.
Did I miss anything? Any other ideas to stay safe during outdoor activities this summer?
I hope you're having a wonderful summer!
