The Curious Science of Microdosing: It's More Than a Placebo Effect

Apr 21, 2023 10:58 pm

 Hi there

Are the potential benefits of microdosing psychedelics to treat mental health conditions simply a result of the placebo effect?

This question has been a topic of much debate in the scientific literature over recent years, but the results of MindBio’s recent randomized, double blind and placebo controlled clinical trial suggest that microdosing Lysergic Acid Diethylamide, also known as LSD has a positive impact on mood compared to the placebo group.

Placebo responses in clinical trials are not uncommon, particularly in psychiatric and neurological conditions such as depression, anxiety, and pain management. However, top-line data from MindBio's Phase 1 randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial microdosing LSD conducted in 2022 produced significant results.

The results showed that the LSD microdosing group had significantly higher ratings of mood, energy, creativity, happiness, and wellness on dosing days compared to the placebo group.

This indicates that microdosing LSD has a positive impact on mood and may be a promising therapeutic intervention for treating conditions such as depression.

The potential benefits of microdosing are significant given the prevalence of mental health issues and the need to find better treatments for people suffering with mental health conditions.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, over 19 million adults in the US reported experiencing depression in the past year, and antidepressant use has been steadily increasing over the past two decades.

The impact of microdosing LSD on mood is well substantiated. While there is still much to learn about the potential of microdosing LSD as a therapeutic intervention, the results of MindBio’s clinical trials suggest that it is a promising treatment option in conditions where diminished mood is experienced, such as depression.

As we continue to grapple with the mental health crisis, it is essential that we remain open to exploring new and innovative treatments that have the potential to offer hope and healing to those who are suffering. Microdosing LSD may be one such treatment, and the results of recent clinical trials suggest that it is worth further investigation.

We are looking forward to our upcoming Phase 2 clinical trials microdosing LSD in patients with Major Depressive Disorder and our upcoming Phase 2 clinical trials microdosing LSD in cancer patients experiencing emotional distress.

Stay well!

Justin
