1 IDEA FROM ME πŸ’‘

It seems as though everyone wants to be more productive... but my question to that is why?

What are people trying to achieve?

Being more productive is not necessarily a bad thing as long as you don't run into burnout.

The best way to be productive is to schedule time in the future to rest.

If you over exercise you're likely to get physically injured

If you over eat you're likely to gain weight

If you work on your side hustle with little break you're likely to get burnout

If you are working on something after work, schedule rest every 4-8 weeks to restore your energy. This technique is known as time blocking.

Productivity means nothing if you have no energy to do work.

So rather than focusing on the latest app that could help you organize your life, take time out to rest for a week to be creative, restore, reflect and reconnect.

When it comes down to it, many things are not as urgent as it seems...

1 QUOTE FROM ME πŸ“

β€œMy philosophy is that not only are you responsible for your life, but doing the best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment.”

- Oprah Winfrey

Oprah and I have something in common and it isn't our star sign! It's the idea that we live in an eternal moment.

When you grasp the importance of this fundamental truth, you'll begin to realize the awesome POWER you have to change the trajectory of your life.

1 BOOK RECOMMENDATION FROM ME πŸ“š

The Chimp Paradox: The Mind Management Programme to Help You Achieve Success, Confidence and Happiness: The Acclaimed Mind Management Programme to Help You Achieve

If you've ever wanted to understand the mechanisms of our brain in relation to how we do things, Dr. Steven Peters explains this very well. The Chimp Paradox uses the analogy that our brain is made up of three parts:

  • The Chimp - The powerful centres of our brain responsible for reactive emotion. The chimp can be immature at times
  • The Human - Weaker than the chimp, but extremely rational and when given the space can tame the chimp in the right direction towards passionate endeavours
  • The Computer - It is the fastest of the three and unaware of itself. It processes all the information

Understanding the relationship between all three has helped me better manage how I approach situations in my life, helping me become more self-aware, resilient and disciplined.
