1 Idea, 1 Quote, 1 Book Recommendation

1 IDEA FROM ME πŸ’‘

As I am writing this email, I had just finished an amazing Instagram Live with the fantastic Jacent Wamala, Counsellor, Coach and Consultant, all the way from the USA.

We spoke about how one can build their confidence and live more on Purpose. If you want to watch the full Live you can do here.

I can't summarize what was said as it doesn't fully capture the moment, but what I can say is the following:

  • Confidence is a result of action: If you're looking for confidence and haven't found it, it's because you haven't taken enough action. Through the journey, the experience and expertise you build, confidence arrives at your table
  • Willingness builds confidence: When you don't have a desire to change, you are less likely going to achieve the goals you want to achieve. Therefore, intention and aspiration is required in order for you to build any level of confidence. Sometimes that stems from the hurt we experience in life.
  • Purpose fuels productivity: Being aligned to a higher sense of meaning and being grounded by what is important to you, is fundamental to your level and quality of stuff done. When you know who you want to become, actions speak much louder than words.
  • Start now, start small: With any endeavour, it starts small and it snowballs. When you reduce the pressure, but start anyway, you are more likely to succeed. Remember, focus on mass imperfect action and quantity over quality first, before you get to the vision you see. But it starts now, and starts small.

1 QUOTE FROM ME πŸ“

β€œOther people will try to decide things for you, she says. They'll try to tell you who you are. Remember, no matter what they say, you're the only one who really decides.” ― Robin Talley, Lies We Tell Ourselves

Let that sink in DEEP!

1 BOOK RECOMMENDATION FROM ME πŸ“š

Deep Work: Rules for Focused Success in a Distracted World - Cal Newport

There are some things that people do that make them stand out from the rest, and that is covered in this book.

Cal Newport explores the simple, yet clear reasons why people are able to build masterpieces overtime. The concept he describes in his book is the same strategy that Bill Gates has used for years to build the billion-dollar company, Microsoft.

If you are suffering from 'distraction-syndrome' and wanting to find ways to work more efficiently and effectively, then this a good read to re-adjust your current strategy.
