1 IDEA FROM ME πŸ’‘

On Saturday 17th April I co-hosted an Instagram Live talking about how you can better manage transitions in Life. You can watch it here.

I mention this because change is something we cannot ignore. It is a fact of life. Yet many of us resist change in many ways due to a lack of confidence stemmed from fear.

For example there are some of us who want to go back to the exact life we were living before, and others who are embracing this change and awaiting the "new normal."

Which view do you hold and are either one of these views correct? What I can say is that the person awaiting change and the person wanting things as they were are living in different times.

...One is living in the past and one is living in the future. However, what remains constant is the present. Acceptance of your current moment is what allows you to develop the resilience for change.

Connecting to a deeper sense of meaning and values that is beyond your emotions helps ground you when life gets tough.

Creating an environment that manages your behaviours and expectations helps cultivate the right mindset.

There are not many guarantees in Life, but one of them is change, and an acceptance that life is about change will help you manage big changes that will occur your life.

1 QUOTE FROM ME πŸ“

"The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts: therefore, guard accordingly, and take care that you entertain no notions unsuitable to virtue and reasonable nature." β€” Marcus Aurelius

1 BOOK RECOMMENDATION FROM ME πŸ“š

Lessons in Stoicism: What Ancient Philosophers Teach Us About How to Live - John Stellars

Since 2004 there has been a steady increase in the interest of the Stoicism, a philosophy that teaches one how to live with a sense of control and fortitude.

Zeno of Citium is considered the founder of Stoicism, where many of the famous Stoics such as Epictetus, Seneca and Marcus Aurelius base their works.

If you have ever been interested in managing your mindset and how to be more emotionally intelligent, a lot of the ideas stem from this school of thought.

I recently listened to this book and was reminded of the deep art of self-control and what it means to be the captain of my life. The book cover topics such as:

  • What is in our control?
  • Dealing with emotions
  • How to handle life and death
  • And the influence of people in our life

It is a small book, but punchy in effect and delivery. If you are interested in living a more aligned and meaningful life, check out the links below to get a copy.
