Hi Dear Readers!

Happy (almost) New Year! I hope you’re all well and getting ready to put 2022 to bed. We’re actually going out for New Year’s Eve, though it’s going to be low-key. Our Brazilian besties are breaking out the grill and we’ll be eating picanha, feijoada, and drinking caipirinha to welcome 2022. On New Year’s day, we’ll be grilling lamb with some other besties and celebrating a new beginning.

I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to a new year and some new projects. I’ve mentioned that 2022 has been a hard year writing wise, so I’m ready for a clean slate and some new books! I don’t really do New Year’s resolutions but I'm intending to get more books out for your reading pleasure, and I’m planning to do my first 10k race in the spring/early summer. More goals than resolutions.

And speaking of projects, I have some updates below.

Cat's Chance in Hell is LIVE!!

Cat's Chance in Hell is FINALLY out in the world. My “short” 80k novel turned into a 113k monstrosity. Y’all, I’m so proud of this book! It took forever to write and I agonized over so many elements of it. At one point (or maybe many) I despaired whether I’d be able to pull all the threads together. But I did it. And it feels sooo good. Sometimes the projects that are the hardest to complete are also the most satisfying. At any rate, it’s out in the world and I hope you all enjoy it. My initial feedback from my ARC readers has been amazing, which is such a huge relief. I feel like release day should get less nerve-racking as I have more of them, but I’m always so nervous and excited to hear what readers think. Click the button below to go buy or read in KU.

BLURB:

When a feline fatale meets his magical match, Baltimore might just go up in flames.

I, Carter Strike, Siamese shifter extraordinaire and a powerful demon’s right-hand cat . . .er, man, have a job to do. My boss’ boy toy is in the crosshairs of an unknown assassin. And when my boss is unhappy, all of Charm City burns.

That’s where I come in. Intel is my specialty and leads me to the doorstep of one drop-dead gorgeous but annoyingly secretive Rakshasa.

Bengal Damon-Cowles—even his name is obnoxious—runs South-West Baltimore and is nothing if not frustratingly contrary. I don’t care if he is a demi-god among shifters, I don’t need the complications from a sexy as sin Rakshasa with the utter gall to turn down a fine piece of feline-fantasy like myself. Especially when we’re forced to work together. Except, every day we spend in close proximity turns up the heat between us.

A roomful of secrets, a looming Nor’Easter, and friends with questionable—or nonexistent—morals, add gasoline to the blaze. As the stakes climb ever higher, and people start dying, I’ve got a cat’s chance in hell of coming out of this one unscorched.

Cat’s Chance in Hell is a 113k snarktastic, size difference, forced proximity, enemies-to-lovers, car-careening-out-of-control romance with a guaranteed happy ending and lots of steam. Shenanigans include: a catnapping gone very, very wrong, a hot pot incident that will go down in infamy, and a Rakshasa with more layers than a Smith Island Cake.

*Can be absolutely be enjoyed as a standalone, but would be more enjoyable read in order.

A Demon's Dilemma

I'm sad to report that I had to cancel the preorder for A Demon's Dilemma. It had to do with Amazon's policies and not because I'm canceling the book. I promise, I'm not. I just couldn't finish it in the time Amazon required for the preorder. It's being bumped to 2023 instead. I'll let you know when I have more news to report on that front.

YBBB and Demon for the Win

A gentle reminder that Your Book Boyfriend's Boyfriend Prolific Works giveaway ends December 31st. That's only three days until this giveaway is no more! I will be putting Demon for the Win up on KU once the audio is complete. The audio will release (hopefully) at the same time and features narrator Darcy Stark. The talented Alex Corza recovered my story and is currently working on giving the series a new look. If you'd like to pick up any of the freebies before the deadline, click on the button below.

New to Me Authors

There's not much I love as much as finding a new author or series to binge. I'm a reader as much as I'm a writer. Two new finds:

First up is Bix Barrow's latest release, Heart Me Up. Love low angst, nice guy reads? Then Bix will be your jam. (Hey, I don't write 'em, but I can still appreciate 'em 🤣).

Foster: Most cops would say flirting immediately after you’ve flashed your badge at a guy is a bad idea. But I can’t resist Craig, the pet resort owner I’ve come to interview. I mean, look at him in his wet jeans and… is that dog hair all over his chest?

I’m dying to ask him out, but first I have to do this favor for my great aunt—okay she bribed me—and go on a blind date with the grandson of her frenemy.

But guess who shows up to rescue me with an outrageous cover story and a rhinestone dog collar?

Craig: My last not-even-a-relationship ended badly. Like, go-to-therapy-for-two-years badly. But I can’t stop thinking about the hot cop who told me to call him if I had any questions. Trust me, he meant those italics.

Running into Foster and helping him get out of his blind date reminds me how much I miss going out and having fun. And kissing. Really, the kissing.

I think I’m ready to risk my heart and date again. But is Foster ready for the reputation he gets around the police station after my dog collar stunt? And am I ready to have his PITA grumpy best friend move into my guest room with no end date? And are either of us ready for how fast this relationship is moving?

One thing I know for sure is that neither of us are ready for the guy with a gun in my house.

Heart Me Up is a low-angst MM romance filled with meddling friends, hurt/comfort, game nights, an uncomfortable couch, and dog accessories not used for their intended purposes.

*Heart Me Up takes place before the events in the rest of the Bent Oak, Texas series and can be read as a standalone.

Next up, Chloe Archer's hilarious aliens-to-lovers series. I included her first book in my newsletter a few months back. Book 2 releases on December 30th and I can't wait to get my hands on it! She's also written a Christmas Novella if you're still wanting to hang out a little longer under the mistletoe. And the audiobook for Book 1 should come out in the very near future. Greg Boudreaux is narrating, so you KNOW it's going to be EPIC.

Blurb for It's Not Unusual to be Loved by an Alien:

A sexy alien living incognito on Earth meets a sci-fi loving nerd who wants to rock his universe. What could possibly go wrong? Besides the unexpected tentacles and the accidental Mating Courtship Ritual, that is....

RIVER SULLIVAN

As a bona fide sci-fi nerd and total X-phile—the truth is out there—I’ve always believed in aliens. Duh. But I never thought I’d actually find them on Earth–let alone right here in Las Vegas! Now I’ve stumbled onto a big freakin’ secret and found my very own hot AF alien. I’m head over heels, but he’s being a total grump and holding back. How do I make him realize a geeky sunshine guy like me is just what he needs in his life? Did I mention he also has tentacles?!?! #HolyHentaiFantasyBatman #SwoonworthyAlien #SignMeUpSugar #MakeItSo #VivaLasVegas

KAI GENARO

The last thing I need in my life is a chatterbox twink who’s determined to woo me and could expose the secret existence of aliens on Earth to all humankind. Everything about him annoys me, including his stupidly attractive halo of golden curls and his bright green ‘come hither’ eyes. To make matters worse, he’s been recruited to work for the alien Alliance on Earth, and I’m assigned to keep him out of trouble. I don’t care how attractive he is. I don’t date humans! Except, my tentacles may have accidentally started the Mating Courtship Ritual with him…

It’s Not Unusual To Be Loved by an Alien (Tentacular Tales #1) is a (102,000 words) M/M sci-fi rom com featuring an adorkable twink with unexpected secrets and a slight obsession with extraterrestrials, the reluctant alien he wants to make his boo, tentacles with a mind of their own, zany extraterrestrial shenanigans in Sin City, and enough humor to fill an entire spaceship. This is the first book in the series. There is no cheating, and this book ends with a HFN. Never fear, the series guarantees readers an HEA by the end!
