I'll take your advice

It was an amazing weekend, and felt good to be back behind the camera where I belong. I photographed an amazing wedding over in O'Fallon, MO for an adorable couple, and it had me beaming all weekend.
Ran into something of a difficult situation with it though. Normally, I'm pretty good with getting the emotions I want out of people...either by coaching them or my being my normal, goofy self. This weekend, though, I had a toddler that just would. not. crack. She didn't cry or scream (much), just would not react. She made eye contact with me, but would not change her expression. I tried all my tricks. (I was going to include a pic as an example, but the bride & groom deserve to see their photos before everyone else...you'll have to settle for GrumpyCat, it's almost the same expression)
So, I'll turn to you - the wisest of the wise. (I know you're wise because you're smart enough to be on my email list)...what are your tricks? How do you get kids to smile around you? Is this just a photographer's problem?
Anyway - thanks for being a part of my tribe :)
Have a great week!
