Are you ready for battle, {{contact.first_name}}?

Greetings, gang!

It's hard to believe April is already half over. This year is absolutely flying by!

I want to attack something head-on today.

I've been hearing a lot about "Imposter Syndrome" lately, and how damaging it can be as a cycle. Full disclosure: I am locked into the fight with this demon these days, and I can't promise I'm winning. But that doesn't mean you should be...and I think I can help.

One of the things I've realized about Imposter Syndrome is that it is a bald-faced lie. It is something inside us trying to convince our greater sense that for some reason we aren't good enough or worthy. It is 100% not true, but that fact alone doesn't stop the spiral.

How can I help?

So one of the psychological tricks of photography* is that it reminds us of our worth. Every time we look at an image of ourselves, it reminds us of our agency. It is a chance for us to deal a blow to the demon of Imposter Syndrome. When there is a portrait of ourselves we see each day, it is an empowering reminder of our nobility. I've written more about it here:

How Photography fixes Imposter Syndrome

I (with the help and direction from some experts in the field) have also put together a set of resources that you can use to help yourself work through the battle. They are available to you - my friends - free of charge. The inconvenience is that they are stored in a different piece of software, so you'll need to sign up again *annoying* I'm sorry I couldn't figure out how to get them directly to you. If you're interested, slap this button and I'll get them on their way.

Free Resources for Conquering Imposter Syndrome

That's it for this week, friends. I hope this helps you in your battles.

More soon!

* - My theory is that all quality portraits would have a positive effect on self-esteem, but I think this is especially so in boudoir photography where the subject is portrayed without the crutch of wardrobe or props, which is why I've put these resources under my boudoir brand mIsFiTs Like ME.

PS - I had a small victory yesterday. I was finally able to reclaim the correct Instagram account for the mIsFiTs brand. I'd REALLY appreciate it if you gave it a follow right here. If you'd like to be part of the private mIsFiTs Group - that invitation is open as well.
