Hey, ,
When's the last time you checked in with your audience? How did you do it?
What valuable insights did you gain or what relationships did you build?
When someone cancels an order or a subscription, you have an opportunity to learn why. However, it's not always when they leave that you should be checking in⦠you can also get great feedback from your current customers.
It's important to reach out to your audience regularly. By doing so, we can understand what behaviors to continue and which ones to stop.
As a bonus, you might discover areas that aren't being met by anyone in your industry for your audience (including you) β this can provide you with valuable information on how to fill that gap.
These insights allow you to make impactful changes to your product or services without the consequences of simply guessing what you should do next.
By checking in, and often, you're saving your time, money, and resources now so that you can be more effective in future marketing and product development.
You are also building actual relationships with your current audience. Developing relationships with your audience is one of the most important and impactful things you can do for your business β and it will bring you lifelong super fans.
Just think, if your favorite brand reached out to you and specifically asked you:
"How are we doing?" or "Is there anything we can do to improve your life or experience with our product (or product category)?" β what would that mean to you?
How about if a brand that you were about to leave or already did leave reached out to you? Wouldn't it make you feel like they actually did care about you?
Here are a few ways you can reach out:
- Send a survey and collect responses.
- Invite them on a call. From those that have completed the survey, read the insights. For the people that you see as an opportunity to get more information, invite them on a phone or video call.
- If possible, meet up with them in your product environment. Observational studies are great for understanding how a product is actually used in its environment with an intended user. You can also see opportunities for your current or future products in this way.
Try it and let me know how it goes for you.
