Hey ,

If you've ever wanted to purchase something that was a bit pricey and wished it could be a little cheaper, you're not alone.

Many shoppers feel this way.

Enter a pay later option for Wix — from PayPal, called "Pay in 4".

While this option doesn't make your product cheaper, it does make the barrier to entry much smaller for the average shopper. This is because the buyer only pays for 25% of the product price at the time of purchase.

Yet, as a merchant, you get 100% of the sale price up front, while the buyer pays for it over a period of 8 weeks (1 payment to PayPal every 2 weeks).

This can make those more expensive and premium products more accessible for many

Let's learn how we can add it on Wix and make it a more prominent checkout option.

How do we add pay later options for PayPal on Wix?

To connect PayPal as a payment provider:

  1. Use Wix Universal Search to lookup "Accept Payments", or select "Settings" in the left sidebar of the Wix Dashboard.
  2. Then choose "Accept Payments"
  3. Next, ensure that your business location (top right) is correct. If not, select it and change it to the correct country.
  4. Then, select "Connect" in the PayPal section below.

Once connected, you can turn on more advanced options with PayPal+Wix. I always recommend enabling advanced PayPal options, so that you can accept recurring payments for services like Wix Pricing Plans or Wix Invoices.

To do that:

  1. Select "Enable Advanced Options" under PayPal. Then, grant Wix permission.

🎉 That's it. PayPal is automatically updated in the Wix App Store to feature the latest buying options for you!

How do my buyers know they can purchase with PayPal?

PayPal typically sends visitors through the same checkout flow as someone who is entering their credit card onto your site, which can take a while (almost twice as long).

So, to make the purchasing options more visible on your website and much quicker for your buyer, turn on the ability to show PayPal before the checkout window with these steps (images provided below):

  1. Select the Pages icon on the left side of the Wix Editor.
  2. Choose "Store Pages".
  3. Select "Product Page".
  4. Once there, click on the Product Page element (the image of your product).
  5. Next, select "Settings" on the Wix Stores Product Page element.
  6. Then, choose the "Settings" option on the left menu of the popup that appeared.
  7. Under "Buy Now," click the "Show button" toggle to enable it.
  8. Finally, click the "Change automatically by payment method" toggle to enable that.

🥳Voilà! Now, customers can see PayPal's buttons, including "Pay Later" right away.

This will make their checkout experience much faster, and it provides a more accessible way to pay for your pricer products.

A quick note about PayPal's pay later option called Pay in 4

You'll need to have a PayPal account (business preferred). Here's how to upgrade to a Business account:

  1. Go to PayPal's Settings page.
  2. Click Upgrade to a Business account under "Account options".
  3. Then, follow the instructions on that page.

Pay later from PayPal is a great option for shoppers as there's no additional fee, or interest charged, or hit to a person's credit score. This is quite significant compared to most payment providers who do charge an interest fee to the customer and/or charge the seller a monthly subscription or a much higher transaction fee.

You'll probably see this option appear for more merchants and payment providers as you shop online too. Now you know.
