Hey ,

I will be spending my next six weeks focusing on one single project.

Inside this edition, I cover:

  • What that project is
  • What you will learn for the next six weeks
  • My proven process for website design
  • Why I chose six weeks to focus
  • How you can do the same
  • How to get my latest course for free

Let's dive in…

What's the project?

I will be creating a personalized professionally-designed website for a client in 6 weeks using my proven 6-phase process, called Wix in Six.

I developed this process to simplify the creation for new-to business entrepreneurs or existing ones who need a redesign, and desire a custom website with a step-by-step process.

Intentional preparation and planning, lead to two weeks of confident design and implementation. This client will receive personalized guidance throughout and following the delivery, supporting their next steps in their business journey.

What will you learn?

To keep my focus on this single project, I'm introducing a brand strategy and website design & development training series alongside my work.

Which means, you can learn how to do the same for yourself.

So, I will take you on a 6-week personalized journey on how I create a stunning and effective website to help you represent your brand and support your business goals.

β€”

What's my proven process?

Each week, I will share with you the behind the scenes of me making a website. I'll illustrate what I am doing, and how you can do the same for your website or redesign.

This all starts next week on Wednesday, May 3rd. Invite a friend and get my latest course for free (using the link at the very bottom of this email).

In Week 1, we'll begin with Vision Mapping, where we define the brand story and outline the ideal structure of the website.

Week 2 is all about Solid Strategy, where I dive deep into the brand and website strategy to ensure the website is aligned with the business goals and target audience.

In Week 3, we'll focus on Content Creation, where I provide a Website Content Guide to remove the guesswork on what to write and where to ensure maximum conversion.

Week 4 is Pre-Production, where I develop a functional website prototype and gather feedback for revisions.

In Week 5, we'll move on to Production, where I create a customized website design optimized for desktop and mobile devices with a focus on an enjoyable user journey.

Finally, in Week 6, we'll wrap up with Post-Production, preparing the website for launch and providing personalized training and ongoing support to ensure confidence in managing the new site.

Let's get started on this exciting learning journey together. By following along each week, you'll gain a better understanding of the website design process, and perhaps even create a website that truly reflects your brand and supports your business goals! Don't forget to invite a friend to learn with you.

Of course, the actual process takes hours within each week, so while we won't be able to cover every single thing… I will focus on actionable tips that you can implement. And, you're welcome to ask me questions anytime.

Why 6 weeks?

About a year ago, I started reading Rework by Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hannsson, founders of Basecamp (37 Signals). The way they get work done at Basecamp was captured in a free online book called Shape Up.

Shape Up is informed by Basecamp's values, culture, and fifteen years of collaborative trial-and-error. The expert designers and programmers at Basecamp tried, tested, and improved these techniques over the years to ship real projects. - Ryan Singer

Recently, my partner (πŸ‘‹πŸΌ Hey Joehey) and I have been giving this practice of working in six-week cycles a lot of thought (both in our work and in our personal lives).

Combined with recent inspiration from our focus on developing and reflecting on our daily rituals through Bullet Journaling (Ryder Carrol) and making progress over perfection via Atomic Habits (James Clear) β€” working in six-week cycles just makes a lot of sense.

Plus, we can make a great team of two. And, it feels good to be validated that a team of two can do so much. We both recently read "Just the two of us" on Jason Fried's blog.

A number of years ago I wrote a piece lauding the number three. I meant every word. Three person teams are incredibly efficient.
But what's better than three?
Two.

So, what's so powerful about six-week cycles and why am I doing this? I'll copy a snippet about Six-week cycles from the free online book, Shape Up, below.

Six weeks is long enough to build something meaningful start-to-finish and short enough that everyone can feel the deadline looming from the start, so they use the time wisely.

If you want to read more, the chapter, "How to Begin to Shape Up" will share how you can get started building a six-week cycle for yourself or team.

While the book is written for the world of online applications and systems (SaaS), if you change the words mentioning designers or developers in your head as you read, it can easily be applied to managing your work or personal life and projects.
