My favorite quick tip for organizing π

Keep your files organized, so you can find them quickly.
Let me show you one of my favorite tips on how to do just that. It's called Boards⦠let's dive in.
You can find Boards in the Wix Media Manager.
Go ahead, find it using Wix Universal Search in your Wix Dashboard,
or select "Media" on the left sidebar in the Wix Editor.
The Media Manager is like "Finder" on Mac or "My Computer" on PC. It acts as the filing cabinet for all of your digital files. Inside, you can store media, such as: images, videos, PDFs, documents, and more.
Since we need to upload all of our website's content into the Media Manager, it can very quickly get messy. And, it can be difficult to find your most used files, such as: your logo, profile photo, or that PDF resource you give away for free.
That is, until using Boards.
How do I get started with using Boards?
To begin, upload or locate your preferred file in the Wix Media Manager, and:
- On the file preview, select the option "β¦" (more button) in the top right corner
- Select the option "Add to Board"
- Then, select the Board you wish to add this file to, such as "My Favorites"
- When you next need that file (or files in that Board), start at the "My Boards" section first (at the left sidebar of the Media Manager).
Or, if you're looking for an even faster experience to save your favorite files:
- First, select "Add to My Favorites" button (it looks like a bookmark icon)
- And you're done β . Find the saved bookmarked file in your "My Favorites" Board the next time you need it.
Can I create more than one Board?
Yep. Similar to using folders in the Media Manager, you can create multiple Boards to save your files. If you're ready to create a new Board besides just the "My Favorites" Board, you can:
- Assign each Board an image to find it even quicker (like an album cover)
- Provide a descriptive title, so it's easy to search
- Explain what files might be found with a detailed description
- And, share the folder with a team member β if you manage a website with more than just yourself, like your friendly neighborhood Wix Partner π
What's so special about Boards vs. folders?
Well, Boards allow for extremely quick access to your files, and each Board (and all of its files) can be accessed across your entire Wix account. This means if you have more than one website on Wix, you won't need to upload your files twice. Folders, on the other hand, are specific to each site they're located in.
Note: When adding a file to a Board, it does not move the file. It simply serves as a bookmark or a quick way to access that file. You will still want to organize your files in Folders.
Also: You can choose to remove a file from your Boards, and it will still exist in its original location in your Media Manager. However, if you delete the file, then it will be both deleted from the Media Manager and removed from your Board(s). No worries, though, as you can recover this file from the Trash.
Let's put this knowledge into practice:
Try adding a file to your "My Favorites" Board following the steps above.
Now, if only we had Boards in our physical lives to find things faster, like our TV remote.
