Time can’t be made

For years, I thought I had to “make time” for what’s important. If something didn’t get done, I blamed myself for not making it a priority. This mindset trapped me in a spiral of self-shame, where time was always slipping away.

It wasn’t until my partner, Joehey, shared a simple, yet powerful message: Time can’t be made, it can only be taken. It can be taken from us, or it can be taken by us.

Time can only be taken

For nearly two decades, I’ve worked in filmmaking, designed programs for thousands, and built my web design business. Yet, I’ve always felt that I’m waiting for the perfect time to start something bigger—a project that reflects the stories, values, and voices that truly matter.

There’s no perfect time. Only the time we choose to take.

So, we’re taking it. 

Joehey and I are making a movie about sleep—and we want to invite you into the process from the very beginning.

With her passions in holistic health and social justice, and mine in filmmaking and education, we’re merging our strengths into one meaningful project. 

This project isn’t just about making a film; it’s about implementing values of social, racial, economic, and environmental justice both in the filmmaking process and in the stories we tell. We aim to create change for the filmmaking community and the communities impacted by these important issues.

We believe filmmaking should be fun, inclusive, and meaningful.

Our first step in taking time for our combined passions is writing a newsletter together, which we are calling (for now), A Creative Duo.
