1 weird thing that will boost your SEO

Hey ,
Learn from one of the most common mistakes I've found on websites (including Wix websites).
And it'll only take you a few minutes, tops.

How do you outrank other websites?
Make sure to create specific, descriptive URLs for each of your pages. Those URLs need to describe what users can find on your pages.
Creating unique Page Titles and Descriptions can help users find you on Google. If you have that, you're already doing well.
But it's not the only thing.
Creating unique URLs for your website's pages will not only help users understand what they can find on your pages, it will also help Google (and other search engines) trust and understand your pages that much more.
In fact, MOZ states that naming your page's URLs will "give weight to the authority of the overall domain and page ranking itself." Who's MOZโฆ they're the creators behind the powerful SEO metrics such as Domain and Page Authority used worldwide โ sited on Wikipedia.
What does all this mean?
Sometimes, like I shared in a past edition, it's best to use analogies and examples when describing more technical topics.
So, I'll lead by example and share a real case study:
If I wanted to create a page for online workshops for painters in a specific industry, I should title it as suchโ
Page Title Tag: Japanese Ink Painting Workshops
Page URL: yourdomain[dot]com/japanese-ink-painting-workshops
Page Meta Description: Take Japanese ink painting workshops live online and in studio with [ Artist Name ] .
So, what's the mistake I commonly see?
Title Tag: Workshops
URL: yourdomain[dot]com/workshops
Meta Description: "no description entered"
Note: This is not descriptive enough for users to understand what they will discover when visiting this page.
We "could" all assume what workshops are and that you probably have them listed on that page. But, why not share more about the transformation someone can get from attending, what they'll learn specifically, and where they'll learn it?
More often though, I see almost no details entered. This will hurt your site the most.
Title Tag: Copy of Home
URL: yourdomain[dot]com/home-copy
Meta Description: "no description entered"
Pro tip:
Take the same amount of time you do for sending emails or crafting copy on your site for making your website more discoverable, so that your users can find you and learn how you can solve their problems.
How helpful can naming your URLs be for you?
Let's go back to the example I led withโ
Page Title Tag: Japanese Ink Painting, Watercolor, and Calligraphy Workshops
Page URL: talialehavi.com/japanese-ink-painting-and-calligraphy-workshops
Page Meta Description: Take Japanese ink painting workshops live online and in studio with Talia Lehavi.
Simply taking this effort for one amazing individual I worked with proved entirely beneficial for us.
You can see that we rank #2 on Google. Plus, we've remained in the Top 5 since the website launched less than 1 year ago. We currently still outrank Skillshare, a marketplace for courses and workshops, as well as Domestika. In our field, that's like outranking Amazon for your own eCommerce shopping category.
Biggest takeaway
Ensure that you create a URL that makes sense to your reader and is consistent with the goal of that page, name of that page, and description of that page.
After allโฆ
"A well-crafted URL provides both humans and search engines an easy-to-understand indication of what the destination page will be about." โ MOZ.
