Don't Be Fooled

Dear Family,

I was reminded this week that money doesn’t fix everything.

I was listening to an episode of My First Million with Sam Parr, Shaan Puri, and Tim Ferriss — three guys who’ve built and sold businesses for more money than most of us will ever see. And yet, all of them said the same thing:

Once the money came, the peace didn’t.

Tim talked about how, after early investments in Uber, Shopify, and Twitter paid off, he expected to feel complete. Instead, he realized he was still chasing something that couldn’t be bought. Now, he’s focused on slowing down and enjoying his day-to-day life — not just building for tomorrow.

Shaan and Sam admitted it too.

They thought having money would take away their anxiety about not having it.

But it just created new problems — different shape, same weight.

We all want to build wealth.

Especially coming from communities where money was tight and financial stability wasn’t guaranteed. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to get ahead — but don’t confuse having money with being fulfilled.

Because at some point, life will remind you that success is fleeting.

When you’re caring for aging parents… grieving friends… or just trying to find peace in the middle of chaos, no amount of money fixes that pain.

So as you build your career, your business, your bank account — don’t lose sight of why you started.

Make sure your definition of success still includes joy, rest, and time with the people who matter most

The goal isn’t just to make money, it’s to make it and still feel whole.

From LUX, With Love

Matt
