When You Find Yourself Stuck At A Crossroads, Maybe The Answer Is "This AND That."

Dear Family,
Are you stuck at a crossroads, trying to decide the best path forward?
You're not alone. The dilemma of "this OR that" versus "this AND that" is common, especially when making impactful life decisions. In this edition of "Normalizing Excellence," we delve into how embracing both options can often lead to the most rewarding outcomes.
In my experience, it's rarely a matter of "this OR that"; more often, it's "this AND that."
Any decision usually has pros and cons. When planning for the long term, I lean towards "AND" because many factors can change over time, impacting the best choice if the goal were for today. Choosing one option over another might be more feasible for shorter-term goals due to clearer information and greater control.
Anyone versed in money or math or who has simply lived a long life knows that many aspects of life evolve and change, often beyond our control or expectations.
Only the naive believe the future will remain unchanged, with all the same variables applying. Unfortunately, one of the hardest truths is that young people must heed the mistakes of those before us while simultaneously investing in the direction of the future. Someone once told me a fool learns from their mistakes, but a wise person learns from others.
I can confidently say I've made plenty of mistakes—and will continue to do so—but I aim to help minimize those for others who come into contact with me or our firm at LUX Wealth.
My desire is to shorten the timeframe for achieving goals while balancing risk and reward to maximize the probability of success. Excellence comes from years of ups and downs but also from recognizing the simple truth that we don't know it all. Keep seeking personal growth, and continue questioning "why."
Multiple options always exist; understanding the trade-offs of these options will better position you for substantial and lasting progress.
Warm Regards,
Matt
