DragonCon and New Release

Hey awesome,

How was your holiday weekend? Mine was phenomenal. DragonCon happened, and I’m still taking unexpected naps to recover from it.

I rarely sleep anywhere near like enough at cons, and DragonCon (which is the first con I ever went to) is an uber version of that. I averaged 3-4 hours a night, which is…not my usual life.

But there were so many wonderful people to talk to, so much to see, so much do, sleep was a worthy sacrifice. Plus, every time I wandered back to my room, I had this view:

So all in all, definitely worth it. New projects were born, nerd arguments were had, and most of all I got to see so many of my people. A full(er) breakdown is on my blog, in case you want to know more about the 14 amazing panels I got to take part in, and I know I missed about 100 things.

It really is non-stop. Are you a con-goer? If so, what’s your favorite con, or con-based activity? I’m forever learning more about fandom, cons, and cool corners of our nerdy home(s), so please share!

Labor Day means more than DragonCon (what?!) – it also, theoretically, means fall is right around the corner, and fall is my favorite time of year. What’s your favorite fall tradition?

It doesn’t feel like fall here yet, but I know it’s coming. Granted, I’m buckling down and getting some novels done this month (Kacey and I – especially Kacey – have made solid progress on Ally, and I think post DragonCon we’ll be able to really laser in and get it wrapped up for y’all soon!), so that leaves a little less time for fall frolicking. Can’t complain about the weather if you have a lot of writing to do. I’m sure that’s a rule.

Coming up next is this beauty – It Takes All Kinds, a Salvage System anthology, out September 13. Next week! I can’t wait to hear what you think. I’ve peeked at some of the stories and it is an excellent, excellent time.

Keeping it short this time (writing deadlines and unplanned naps wait for no one!), but hope you have a lovely weekend ahead.

Til next time,

Marisa
