Beaches, books, and bones

Hey awesome,

I hope fall is going great for you - is it fall where you are? We have some crispness in the air overnight more days than not, but it's not quiiiite my favorite season yet.

It is time for Halloween decorations though, which I'm going to work on when we get to our next stop. We've had a lovely time in Wilmington, NC - it probably won't be where we settle, but it sure has been absolutely beautiful.

I could barely limit myself to nine pictures here, and I promise you I have approximately ninety pictures of the assorted beaches we wandered our way up and down over the last few weeks.

Beyond exploring, I've been doing a lot of writing. Kacey and I are so close to the end of Ally - I can't wait to have this story in your hands! We should have it turned in sometime in the next few weeks - keep your fingers crossed for us?

There's also been progress on Salt in the Wound, my novel in Christopher Woods' Fallen World universe. Given it centers on survivors on an island in the Atlantic, I'm saying all this beach time is research. Right?

One other piece of exciting news: Bill Webb, Larry Hoy, and I have been spending some time plotting out timeline and next steps for Hit World: Valkyries. I'm going to be talking to some fabulous authors soon, signing some t's and crossing some i's (totally how it goes), and will have more to share soon.

Like, for instance, what trouble Bill and I are up to in the mainline Hit World storyline that will result in Valkyries...stay tuned, a ton more to come there!

Next few weeks here are more of the same awesomeness: writing, beachwalking, and reading great stories. Speaking of great stories...

Unshackled, by the hilarious and clever duo of Jamie Ibson and Casey Moores, is out in the world. Full of jokes, action, and an absolutely terrific story, it's definitely a pick-me-up when you can't find more shark teeth.

Ahem. When you want a good story to read. Which I did, after I found an amaaazing fossilized shark tooth (immortalized on my blog, and also a picture right here because I am obsessed), and then zero more cool bones.

That's a normal thing to look for when walking the beach, isn't it? Cool bones? Well, if not...I never really pretended to be normal. At least not effectively.

At any rate, off I go to be unnormal some more and get some good writing and beach time in. Next time I write you will be...just before FactoryCon starts! Shenangins await.

Til next time,

Marisa
