Writing and adventures

Hey awesomes,

Here's a secret - I'm in the process of writing 5 short stories over the next few weeks. My goal is to have all my shorts for the year at least drafted before we hit the road again, so I can shift focus to the novels not-so-patiently waiting on my project list.

What do you think? Crazy? Or crazy like a fox? I'm hoping for the latter. You'll hear a lot more about all of that (shorts and novels!) in the weeks ahead. As for hitting the road, have I shown you our RV situation yet?

For years, my fabulous and incredibly patient husband Jeremy has wanted to live in a tiny home, van, or RV. It took awhile for me to agree (where would all my books go!), but last summer everything rolled in his favor and we picked up this enormous beauty.

Jeremy's in the midst of renovating the interior, so you know some before/after pictures are in your future. While I'm looking forward to our future adventures, spring in New England is absurdly beautiful, so there are plenty of local adventures to get into. On a rockhounding trip last week, I found this pottery shard that may or may not be 400 years old.

Any pottery experts out there? What do you think? It has joined the not-practical-for-living-in-an-RV-amount of rocks and shells I have collected from various trips over the last few months.

Let me know if you want to see pictures of those treasures...I've definitely gotten a bit dragon-hoardy over here.

In other book news, did you know it's one of my favorite people's birthday this week? That's right, the fabulous Kacey Ezell, sometimes co-author and always fantastical friend, celebrated another turn around the sun this week, and to celebrate you might want to treat yourself to her latest amazing work: Sundown.

Fans of Chuck Gannon's Caine Riordan universe and/or Kacey's always wonderful writing will be well-treated indeed by picking this up. Deeply compelling characters going on a journey of growth and scifi shenanigans? You can't go wrong. Pick up Sundown and have your own Kacey-inspired birthday celebration!

And finally, I got to join the guys at Super Geeked Up again last night - there were even more shenanigans than usual, and plenty of nerdy fun along the way. This is the fourth or maybe fifth time I've been lucky enough to hang out with Jeff, Francis, and their amazing group, and some how it gets better (and more shenanigan-er) every time. Check it out if you're up for out of control giggling.

See you next week on the blog, or two weeks from now right here. Oh, and stay tuned, because that favor token drawing is next week...

Good luck, with the contest and the ever mercurial spring weather. Talk soon!

Marisa
