This month's challenge: raise awareness of the importance of soil richness 🌿

image

In this beautiful month of May, we propose a challenge to be carried out in class with your students to talk about soil depletion! Why do you want to do this? Because today the lack of organic matter is turning soils into sand, which leads to food crises, water shortages etc. This challenge is in partnership with the Save Soil campaign, which seeks to raise awareness of this little-known environmental issue. Feel free to check out their website for more info on the subject!

What better way to raise awareness than by taking action?

For this challenge, you will need :

  • a tissue
  • an empty jam jar
  • some soil
  • a microwave oven

The idea: to compare the disintegration of the piece of tissue according to the presence or absence of micro-organisms!

👉 See the activity sheet 👈

Something to make students aware of the importance of having rich soil and why not link the activity to the benefits of compost!

The good ecological news🌱

From July 2022, pesticides will be banned in common living areas (condominiums, hotel or company gardens, commercial areas, cemeteries, schools, campgrounds and amusement parks), it's about time 😉!

See you very soon!

Green kiss 💚,

The MPP School Team
