What Your Father Didn't Teach You About Shaving

My Uncle George, St. Patrick's Day, And Shaving

St. Patrick's Day was an interesting, kind of goofy, holiday when I was growing up.

My favorite uncle, Uncle George, had his birthday on 17 March (St. Patrick's Day). And there would always be quite the birthday celebration for him, usually Irish-themed--despite him not having one drop of Irish blood (his heritage was Lebanese)!

He used to whimsically tell me that he was the only Lebanese Irishman in the world.

Anyway...this time of year always gets me thinking about Uncle George so I thought I would post this article about St. Patrick's Day-themed shave products (including one from this email's sponsor, Stirling Soap!) in his honor.

Razors

In this week's Wet Shaving Talk podcast, Joe Borrelli talks about the Mongoose razor, a vintage Personna New Angle 70 (aka BBS-0) in the original package he found, and the Focus R50 single edge razor. Plus the new Passiflora release from Barrister And Mann!

Mama Bear Turkish Mocha

Ever since Jay Harrell started his love affair with wet shaving, He always gravitated towards creams rather than hard soaps. It had to do with the ease of loading a brush.

What changed was a couple of years ago he figured he would finish what his genes started (going bald) and completely shave his head. He installed a mirror in the shower and began doing the majority of his shaving there.

What Jay found after several months is that it is actually easier to use a hard soap in the shower. That is where Mama Bear Soaps entered his life.
