Hi ,
This week our inboxes and social media feeds tend to be full of resolutions. People telling you their product is what you need to reach your 2024 goals.
I'm not here to do that.
Instead, enjoy a little slice of author life.
At the start of December, I took the plunge and got laser eye surgery to correct my vision. If you're like me, and know someone who has had Lasik, you're probably thinking it was a quick and easy recovery.
IT WAS NOT!!
Turns out my eyeballs are not the usual shape and so I took the medical advice to have PRK. I'm now almost 4 weeks post OP and still struggling to read and write like I used to (I'm currently typing this email with sunnies on because the lights in the local library are too bright for my eyes).
The good news? I can see well enough now that I'm starting to experience little wins. Things I can now do thanks to laser correction:
- Shaving my legs in the shower (and seeing what I'm doing)
- Walking in the rain (glasses should come with windshield wipers)
- No more smudged glasses! (Ever tried cuddling while wearing glasses? Smudge central).
So what have I been doing while I recover?
Getting extra cuddles from my dogs who have no concept of personal space, listening to lots of audiobooks, and getting revenge on my pets by forcing them to pose with my debut novel.
If you haven't heard yet, my debut novel is a young adult fantasy romance titled, Nakoma and the Prince. It comes out on the 24th of February (only 50 days left!)
What's in it?
- 2 animal sidekicks - in the form of an owl (hence the cover) and a grey stallion,
- a secret identity romance,
- a cinnamon roll prince and a strong female lead,
- supportive female friendships,
- a dash of self-discovery,
- and lots of feel-good, disney vibes to warm your soul.
Paperbacks and eBooks available for PreOrder on amazon now. Or visit my website to preorder a signed copy (Australian residents only).
Not ready to commit to a purchase yet? No problem. Stick around for my next email (late January) for more global authors to stuff your kindle with in exchange for newsletter signups.
Keep dreaming,
Monica
