Autodesk's New Acquisition: Wonder Dynamics

Autodesk, announced it has acquired Wonder Dynamics, creators of Wonder Studio, a cloud-based 3D animation and VFX solution that leverages artificial intelligence. Wonder Studio integrates with popular 3D tools, to help artists animate, light, and compose 3D characters within live-action scenes more efficiently.

Wonder Studio is designed to streamline the 3D animation process by automating up to 90% of the "objective" VFX work. This includes tasks like tracking, lighting, and compositing 3D characters, which traditionally require substantial time and effort. By automating these processes, Wonder Studio claims artists can focus on the "subjective" aspects of their work, such as creative decisions and fine-tuning.

Why it matters: The acquisition allows more creators to incorporate 3D animated characters into their projects with a minimal learning curve meaning that both small teams and large studios can benefit from advanced tools without needing extensive training.
