two major safety concerns

Greetings!

While it brings me great joy to share God’s provision for the girls, sometimes we have unmet needs. This is one of those times. There are 2 dangers which need immediate attention. The first is the protection of the girls at the safe home. Every night, the electricity at the safe home is shut off by the government. This means the electrified razor wire and security cameras are not on.

The second danger involves traveling safety. This past summer, two of our staff members and one of our girls, along with the driver, were struck by a truck while traveling via boda boda (a small motorcycle). Four people were on 1 boda boda driving to a place 5 hours away, because we lack our own vehicle.

Thankfully, no one was seriously injured. But this is not the first accident. Doreen has fallen off boda bodas twice in the past several months. Without action, a serious injury is likely. For this reason, we need a vehicle. Specifically, we need to purchase two reliable used cars which can withstand the rough roads in Uganda. We discussed buying a 14 passenger van, but two smaller vehicles would allow us to be better stewards of our resources. We need a small SUV for long trips on rough roads. A minivan would be purchased for shorter distances. Both would be needed to bring the girls to church each Sunday.

If your heart is moved, you can provide the solution...

Safe Home: the girls need a generator. A generator would ensure continuous electricity. The total cost, including installation & a year’s worth of fuel, will be $3300

Traveling Safety: the cost for the SUV is $13,300 and the minivan is $9,900. We plan to start with one vehicle, unless the Lord provides otherwise.

To help, click the button below. Under “Where should it go?” select “Vehicles” or “Generator”.

Once a financial need is met, we will move forward with the purchase.

Help with Safety Needs

*If funding exceeds need for each project, we will use the additional funds to meet other vital needs.

Thank you for loving the girls so well.

In Christ,

Kristen
