Rest for the weary

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
Children can be exhausting. And I think it’s OK to admit that. Recently, Doreen and I discussed some hard situations at the safe home.
One change, which was recently implemented, was to put a Christian social worker in our house-mother position. The job is difficult, and often complex. A professional social worker will be better able to navigate these challenges.
Additionally, in order to ensure healthy employees, our counselor, Mercy, will begin monthly counseling sessions for Lupins staff members.
Finally, we are in the beginning stages of an exciting new ministry opportunity. Doreen wants to begin weekend getaways to refresh employees from various community-based organizations in Uganda. Joy, our outreach coordinator, is planning this outreach, which will be Christ-centered, and fun! Other organizations have been noticing that Lupins employees look energized and cared for, despite the difficult nature of their work. Doreen wants employees of other organizations to receive the same care our employees are receiving.
This new endeavor could also benefit Lupins Africa financially. Each sending organization would provide the funding for their employees to attend the weekend. At first, the fee to attend may be minimal, in order to bring the needed refreshment to these workers. But, as the event becomes popular, we would charge a reasonable fee, which would go to support our ministry.
I hope you are excited as you see the amazing work God is doing through his children (them AND you)!
And, if you are weary, please remember to rest in the Lord, both spiritually and physically.
He restores our soul,
Kristen
P.S. Please send me your prayer requests so I can pray for you.
