hard things are still good things

I’m sure you know, friend, that God uses challenges. The following two are no exception.

You may remember that, last September, 120 men and women participated in our inaugural budgeting, saving, and small business workshop. This fledgling microfinance program initially garnered much excitement. But pooling their savings was not something participants were prepared to do. While they trust Lupins, they don’t seem to trust each other. Therefore, we are taking a step back to focus on increasing trust. We will encourage cooperation as participants aim to increase their incomes. They will set financial goals, and map out how to get there. An all day workshop will be held in March to better address these needs. We are eager to pursue God’s plans as He continues to light our path forward.

The second challenge involves an area we call reunification. It is a difficult, yet vital, process. The Lupins staff travels, inquires, researches, and prays to find a safe family member for each girl. You will likely view the photos below with mixed emotions. Many of you have seen the joy filled photos from the Lupins safe home. In the below photos, you may see some uncertainty.

Indeed, the safe home is a wonderful place to heal and grow. And each girl will continue to grow and learn in a year round Christian boarding school. But now each of these girls will also have the love of a family. HER family.

And, best of all, she now knows Jesus. And He will hold her tight. What’s more, she is bringing the Good News of Jesus to her family. And she is ready. I know she may look temporarily tentative, but she has been prepared for this challenge- spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. And the Lupins staff will continue to support her, and minister to her.

I know you will too.

And, who knows, God just might use her to transform a nation.

He is faithful,

Kristen
