A few years ago, my sister in law and I went to our first Latina meet up event. We left inspired as we were driving home we were brain storming about all the things we could do to help our Hispanic community with the little skills we had. Years passed and again sitting down with my cuñada on her birthday the little light bulb went off again.
I few months ago I started a group not even realizing what I was doing, just think it was for my girls to play soccer. I realized I like educating, no matter the age group or color. I want to teach these girls everything I know.
My self and my 2 other partners are interested in creating a non profit to help our Spanish community girls while incorporating soccer. Some parents don’t know how to even begin to apply or motivate their kids to apply for scholarships, some parents are even too proud to ask for a hand out. We would like to be a resource for parents and girls. Only 2% of soccer girls get a soccer scholarship, we want to prep girls for more than just a soccer scholarship. We created mini but important jobs for our girls; just as social media manager, team admin, as well as captains. We want to be able to show our girls and community que si se puede! We are determined to get our girls scholarships.
We are asking the community for donations in order to purchase a bus or van in order to provide transportation, more equipment, for scholarships and take college tours.
