Hiya, I’m Paige. 

If I’m not studying, you’ll find me outside whether that be running trails or helping Dad with the chooks or in the garden. I’ve always been conscious of the natural environment and as I started running over the last two years, that connection has grown stronger than ever.

I’m still finding my way in running and environmental advocacy but For Wild Places has kept the fire alive and I am so excited for what is to come.

WHAT I'M EYEING

Hannah Eddy's sketches

Hailing from Reno, Nevada and inspired by the surrounding mountains, skateboarding, surfing and snowboarding, Hannah Eddy uses bright colours and abstract lines to depict the connectedness of the natural world and funky females embracing the flow. Her work can be found on the sides of buildings, hanging on the wall, on your shirt, in books and in collaboration with some big companies and campaigns.

WHO I'M FOLLOWING

Dakota Jones

Aside from a very very impressive trail racing resume, Dakota Jones is doing some funky work in the field of environmental activism. To reach Ireland without flying, he crossed the Atlantic ocean by cargo ship, cycled 200 miles across France to board a ferry to Ireland. In 2018, he commuted 250 miles on his bike to and from Pike Peak’s Marathon … and won. A little over a year ago he returned to university to study engineering in a bid to improve the way we consume and manufacture material outdoor products.

CAMPAIGNS I'M FOLLOWING

Banish

Banish was launched in an effort to reduce waste production of Australians. Their online store is stocked with products that are fair trade, paraben-free and are not tested on animals and shipped with no plastic packaging. These items include single-use swaps (baking paper, ziploc bags etc) beauty products and even an insect hotel. 

They have plenty of useful information and a recycling program for things you can’t usually put in your kerbside bin - think toothbrushes, medicine blister packaging, coffee pods, bread tags…

WHAT I'M LISTENING TO

Together, Ziggy Alberts

I rediscovered this song late last year while I was mountain biking. It questions the motives of human society and I think it does a pretty good job of summarizing what FWP is trying to accomplish.
